David’s Country Shanghai

If you haven’t been to David’s in Prahran recently, it is worth a return visit. The place has had a transformation, and is now a light, bright stylish eating house (restaurant doesn’t seem like the right word). There is lots of white wood, white lanterns and an eclectic mix of country style tables and chairs.

We were there for Yum Cha on Sunday and they have two sittings 11.30am & 1.30pm, and didn’t feel at all rushed to leave, as we had come for the early sitting. Yum Cha is a set price of $35 per adult and $10 per child, considering our boys eat like adults, we were very pleased with the set price option! The food is bought to you on trays, Yum Cha style, but the staff communicate each dish well, and encourage you to try as much as you can.

We had a gorgeous selection of dumpings – prawn, beef, pork, all the usual suspects, the Peking Duck pancakes were delicious, a spicy Wagyu beef dumpling was a winner, as was the white chocolate dumplings served with the sweet selection. Our children asked for extra serves. The crowd is a mix of the young and groovy, and young families, and the staff are a delight.
