THE PANTRY

Tracy Gualano from the Food On Tap team loves Church Road, Brighton, for it’s great restaurants, bars and cafes. Below is a round up of some of her favourites…

The Pantry:  1 Church Street, Brighton, +03 9591 0393

www.pantry.com.au  fantastic deli, restaurant, cooking shows

The Pantry has been a bayside institution for the past 18 years.  They offer a fantastic menu in the restaurant with both indoor and outdoor tables.  Open Hours: Breakfast & Lunch Mon-Sun and Dinner & Takeaway Thurs-Sat.  They also have an amazing deli, a catering service and live shows featuring some of the best Chefs in the country.  It is a great place to people watch, (plenty of footballers and celebrities) and enjoy an excellent meal.  Great in summer to sit outside and have a wine or two and watch the world go by.  Fully licensed.

Great Indian restaurant: Indian Palace: 131 Church Road, Brighton, +03 9593 1488

My all time favourite Indian restaurant.  The staff are friendly, the food is authentic and of the best quality and the atmosphere is casual, yet has a great buzz as it is always full.  The Rogan Josh for me and my children love their Butter chicken. Licensed and byo wine

Great Japanese: Akiya Japanese Restaurant, 133 Church Road, Brighton, +03 9592 1671

My girlfriends and I frequent this Japanese restaurant at least once a month.  We take our champagne and wine and lap up the traditional Japanese surrounds and service.

The quality of the food is second to none and we always try at least one new dish.  We have never been disappointed.  Do try their Miso steak and special prawn roll!  Licensed and byo wine

Great Thai: Thai Saffron, 135 Church Road, Brighton, +03 9592 9097

The surroundings at Thai Saffron are elegant and refined, yet the menu prices are very affordable.  The food is incredible and it always busy with customers.  The menu is mainly Thai with a few Western influences thrown in.  I love the fish cakes and the yellow curry with chicken (which I believe they are famous for).  BYO wine and licensed.

Bar: Half Moon, 120 Church Road, Brighton, +03 9591 0611
