Yea Peppercorn Hotel

1 Exterior Twilight

If you are driving up to Mt Buller this winter, or just in the Yea area,
check out the Yea Peppercorn Hotel on the Station Street (Melba Hwy), on
the left when coming from Melbourne as you head into the main street.
It is an old Pub that has been lovingly restored, and serving some very
good food and coffee. Think Gastro pub, more than café or restaurant,
but the décor is relaxed, and the food very good.

We stopped in for Sunday lunch which is obviously a busy day for them, and the kids ordered fish & chips, which were two very fresh pieces of battered fish,
and some great chips. My husband and I ordered their house bread board,
which included roasted garlic & cheese loaf slices and an Eolian baked
cheese, tomato & herb scaccia. We shared the Salt & Pepper Squid which
was tender and well spiced, as well as the Soup of the day which was
Cauliflower with a kick. A mixed bag I know, but we were expecting to be
eating a ham, cheese & tomato sandwich in the local bakery, so did not
expect to have such great offerings.

The Peppercorn has accommodation upstairs, and is open seven days a week
for lunch and dinner.

A nice little find, and one we will revisit next time we are heading up
that way.
